All bands and musicians, from any genre or style, are allowed to submit one song per album.

Submissions are only accepted during a certain period every year. Announcements regarding submission dates will be made in the news section of the site.

Songs need to be either in WAV or Flac format.

Please only submit songs that have been recorded in the last 3 years. We want the album to represent the current music scene in Shanghai. More recent, the better!

We may refuse low-quality recordings. It’s not that we don’t like raw recordings, it’s just that many platforms have algorithms that won’t allow certain quality songs to be uploaded, which can delay the release of the whole album. So no live/jam space recordings please.

Once an album is uploaded, songs CANNOT be removed or altered. We use 3rd party services to upload to multiple platforms. We have many tracks, by many artists with the biggest volume containing 64 songs/artists. It takes a very long time to get them uploaded with all their metadata. To remove or change a song essentially requires the whole album being deleted and reuploaded to all platforms, which means all the listens the other musicians gained, moving their songs up on platforms in popularity, would be lost, and that’s not fair to the other artists. Nevermind that multiple artists could want to upload better versions of their songs and we would be deleting and reuploading the albums indefinitely. So once the album is uploaded, that’s final. No changing, removing, or updating the songs or metadata.

None of these songs can be used in any other way without the permission of the artists. If we are approached with any offers, we will direct them to the artists.

No profit will be made from these songs. If we receive any money from plays, it will be put towards the We Are Shanghai shows, website fees, or if received funds somehow exceed those costs (they never will) we will donate them to charity.

6、     专辑上传后，歌曲将无法删除或更改。 我们使用第三方服务上传到多个平台。 我们有很多曲目，由许多的乐队或音乐人创作，最大的专辑包含 64 首歌曲，上传它们及其所有的原始数据需要很长时间，要删除或更改歌曲本质上需要删除整个专辑并重新上传到所有平台，这意味着其他乐队或音乐人在平台上获得的所有收听量都将丢失，这对其他的乐队或音乐人不公平 。 所以一旦专辑上传，我们将不支持更改、删除或更新歌曲的原始数据。 

7、    未经乐队或音乐人的许可，任何人不得已以任何形式使用这些歌曲。

 如果我们收到任何报酬，我们会将获得的报酬用于We Are Shanghai的活动、网站运营、捐赠慈善机构等。
